Celebrating "THE SUPREMES." The Supremes were the most commercially successful of Motown's acts and the most successful American vocal group, with 12 number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100. It is said that The Supremes' breakthrough made it possible for future African-American R&B and soul musicians to find mainstream success. Billboard ranked the Supremes as the 16th greatest Hot 100 artist of all time. #FLOSFRIDAY - on Friday's we celebrate the 38 year history and legacy of The Former Ladies of The Supremes, we call it "F.L.O.S. FRIDAY." Today we are looking back to the early 1990's when Scherrie Payne, Lynda Laurence & Jean Terrell united as "The Former Ladies of THE SUPREMES." This trio of former "Motown Supremes" performed and recorded together 1986-1992 #FormerLadiesOfTheSupremes #KeepTheMusicPlaying Happy heavenly birthday to our "Supreme Sister" Mary Wilson! From the heart of Scherrie Payne: Every time I think of Mary Wilson it’s still hard to believe she’s not here; she’s moved on. There are no words to describe the void that she left. Family, Friends as well as fans all over the world have been left stunned... Mary was a legend in her own right. An icon who graced concert stages all over the world and played to audiences of all ages and walks of life, including Royalty... From that teenager in Detroit who never imagined the heights she would attain as an original member of the number one female singing group in the world, “ The Supremes,” Mary embraced her destiny always with dignity, grace and class. She was tenacious, focused, yet, always down to earth, and made it a point to be there for her fans. And there were multitudes! She was, and forever will be, loved... Today would’ve been Mary’s 80th birthday!... I, for one, find it surreal. I can only say, “Happy Heavenly Birthday, my Supreme Sister, Mary Wilson!” We honor and celebrate you!!! The song, “Someday We’ll Be Together,” comes to mind. Until that time arrives, I will always keep the happy memories of you in my heart. You were the best and I was honored to have known and worked with you. Thank you for making dreams come true for me and so many others... Heaven has welcomed in another angel! Blessings, Scherrie Payne Formerly of The Supremes From the heart of Susaye Greene: Mary Wilson, who came to worldwide fame with the Supremes, was a star. The Mary I knew, sang with in the Supremes, laughed and travelled the world with, in the quest for entertaining the people, would have been overjoyed at the outpouring of love and sweet remembrance of sweeter days. Mary was deeply loved around the world. We celebrate her birthday today and celebrate the joy she brought to millions around the world. She made it possible for other artists to perform in places they had never had the right to before, as a member of the Supremes and accomplished the impossible. Happy birthday in Heaven Supreme Mary Wilson. Love you forever, Susaye Greene Formerly of The Supremes On Friday, March 1st 2024 Scherrie Payne & Lynda Laurence, formerly of The Supremes, attended Jimmy Webb's performance at The Catalina Jazz Club in Hollwood, CA. Jimmy performed many of the classics that he wrote to a sold out audience! In 1972, when Lynda was a member of The Supremes, Jimmy recorded an album with the ladies titled "Produced & Arranged By Jimmy Webb." This was quite a reunion as Lynda has not seen Jimmy since the album was recorded. Jimmy was happily surprised to see Lynda after all these years. They shared memories of recording the album, and reminded each other of funny moments in the studio. A beautiful evening of beautiful music, fabulous food, friends was had by all. “I’ve always loved Jimmy Webb! One of my favorite songs was recorded by Thelma Houston on her”Sunshower” album, entitled “Crazy Mixed up Girl.” It was an honor to meet him and he gave a great show!” - Scherrie Payne Hello Everyone, I hope you are all in good health and happy. On March 1st 2024, I had the distinct pleasure of seeing the one and only Jimmy Webb! Wow! What a night! So many people came out to see him at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood, And I was one of them. It was like, I was transported back to the studio where Jean Terrell, Mary Wilson and I recorded our “Supremes Produced & Arranged By Jimmy Webb album.” That album was very underrated because it was poorly publicized. We didn’t have the internet in those days. People had to actually get out there and push an album. The music in that album was some of the best I think the Supremes recorded. Jeans voice was so perfect for Jimmy’s style. It was just beautiful. Of course he couldn’t play all of his songs that night. We would have been there all night! This man is such a prolific song writer. His lyrics are stellar and his musicality is bar none. Needless to say, it was great seeing him, and I became a fan when I asked him to sign my album! We Had a chance to see Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr., and of course Scherrie Payne and sister Freda Payne were with us also. We had a very enjoyable evening. Seeing Jimmy after all of these years, was a treat that will last a long while!
